Blinds & Roller Shutters in Melkbosstrand

Further up the R27, a village pace and a fair share of weekend houses — with the same coastal weather to specify against.

A village further up the coast

Melkbosstrand sits north of Big Bay along the R27, with a slower, more settled village character than the density closer to Bloubergstrand — a mix of full-time residents and houses that stand empty for stretches between weekends and holidays. Both groups deal with the same exposure: open coastline, strong wind and salt-laden air with very little to break it before it reaches a house.

Why roller shutters do well here

Roller shutters — rigid aluminium slats that roll down from an external headbox — are a shading product first: they cut heat, glare and UV on the outside of the glass, and they're operable by anyone without needing to be on site, which suits a house that isn't occupied every week. Closed shutters on an unattended west-facing room keep the worst of the afternoon sun off furniture and finishes between visits. They are not a security-rated product, and we're plain about that distinction when we quote.

Specified for open coastline

With little built shelter around many Melkbosstrand stands, wind and salt exposure sits closer to Bloubergstrand's than to a more sheltered inland suburb. Every exterior product is specified in powder-coated aluminium with sealed hardware, the same standard we hold across the whole Blaauwberg coast.
