Blinds & Awnings in Bloubergstrand
The postcard view of Table Mountain across Table Bay comes with the front line of the Cape Doctor — we specify for both.
The view that draws people here
Bloubergstrand's beachfront is the classic Cape Town postcard — Table Mountain rising across the bay, best seen from a lounge or bedroom window at the right time of day. It's also, by reputation and by wind-forecast data alike, one of the windiest stretches of coastline in the country: the same south-easter that makes the beach a world-renowned kitesurfing spot from October through March reaches full strength here first, before it softens further inland toward Sunningdale.
What that means for a window
Sunscreen roller blinds are the standard answer for a bay-facing window — enough openness to keep the mountain in view, enough fabric to knock the glare off a low afternoon sun. Salt-laden wind reaches window frames and any exterior hardware here faster than almost anywhere else we work, so we specify powder-coated aluminium and sealed cassettes as the baseline, not an upgrade.
Maintenance, honestly
Even marine-spec hardware on a beachfront stand wants an occasional fresh-water rinse to shift salt build-up before it pits a bracket or seizes a chain. We'd rather say that upfront than have a client discover it the hard way after a season of south-easters.
